On the day of discovery day students will have the opportunity to engage in two workshops presented by McMaster iGEM.
One of the workshops will involve running a piece of DNA on a gel to learn about the properties of DNA, how it can be used to
separate different DNA strands based on base pair length, and how this is useful in science. The second workshop will involve
staining bacteria from common surface and objects to allow students to visualize and observe the types of batteries present and
common properties of these micro organisms.
